Radiofrequency microneedling – the best of two treatments

An appointment with the Beauty Doc is definitely a highlight on our agenda. To put yourself in professional hands and get treated – wonderful! Especially when you can look forward to the results. Effective and gentle: radiofrequency microneedling.

“The treatment is a very proven procedure with no major downtime,” explains dermatology specialist Dr. Susanne Steinkraus. She continues, “The combination of both procedures makes radiofrequency microneedling a treatment that can extremely improve skin quality.” In the PODCAST interview, the doctor explains what is important in the treatment.

Radiofrequency microneedling combines the best of two proven treatment approaches. In the treatment, small needles penetrate the skin surface, causing micro-injuries and the re-cross-linking of collagen fibers. A heat pulse (radiofrequency) is then delivered within milliseconds.

“As a result, the skin is intensively supplied with blood, the body’s own regeneration processes stimulated. A ‘collagen shrinking’ occurs, the Release From Growth Factors pushed and the Connective Tissue Cells is stimulated. They then produce more collagen and elastin fibers, and the skin becomes more elastic. firmer and sustainably regenerated“, explains the dermatologist with practice in Hamburg.

Radio frequency microneedling as a collagen booster

And how does a treatment with radiofrequency microneedling proceed? After a thorough anamnesis, individual consultation and cleansing, we start. The device with the small needles is adjusted and gently guided over the skin. “The penetration depth can be individually adjusted,” explains Dr. Steinkraus.

Suitable for face and body

And what areas can be treated with radiofrequency microneedling? “The great thing is that you can use it on the face – even around the eyes – as well as on the neck, décolleté on the hands and the body,” the doctor points out. “I also very much like to combine it with filler treatments or a small thread lift. It’s with the mix of different procedures that you get the best results.”

The treatment is painless

“And how does it feel,” I ask a patient in the Hamburg office? “Doesn’t it hurt to be treated with needles and heat all over your face?” The prompt reply, “No not at all. Only in some places it was a feeling comparable to plucking the eyebrows.

And the operational areas? It is used for wrinkle reduction, skin tightening, and especially to improve the Skin appearance and correction of Scars used. “Of course, the most lasting results come from repeated treatments. I recommend three applications each at intervals of four weeks. The final result can then be seen after six to eight weeks; the skin is still working properly,” says Dr. Steinkraus.

Risks and side effects

In radiofrequency needling, proper and consistent hygiene is very important to avoid infections.

By combining with radiofrequency, unlike traditional needling, there is no external injury or severe redness and therefore no downtime. Light protection with at least SPF 30 is recommended.

The aim of the treatment method – in different intensity – is to push the collagen and elastin fibers so that the skin becomes plumper and fresher.
