Does reducing skin aging with anti-aging creams work?

Every day it comes in advertising, cosmetics manufacturers advertise their miracle cures for wrinkles and signs of aging. But can anti-aging creams really cause the skin not to age or to age at a reduced rate? Can the care products really effectively fight wrinkles? We would like to provide guidance and show what really helps and what methods are recommended outside of creams and beauty products.

Over time, not only we age, but also our skin. Especially in the face, this is often noticeable quite quickly. And what was once taken for granted now becomes a fervent desire: a youthful, fresh appearance.

What do anti-aging creams and the like have to offer?

There are a lot of remedies against wrinkles, but. a miracle cure does not exist. Especially anti-aging creams and similar products often do not deliver what they promise. These creams are supposed to smooth the face, but in the end the substance only penetrates the skin superficially in most cases. Where the wrinkles occur, namely in the deeper layers of the skin, a cream can not act. As a result, the face looks smoother and younger only for a short time. Creams with hyaluron form an air-permeable layer on the skin, so that moisture is bound. The effect does not last long. Collagen is supposed to tighten small wrinkles, but usually only does so for a short time.

What do experts say?

The experts are certain: anti-aging creams and similar beauty products can only delay the aging of the skin. Already existing wrinkles are not eliminated. Thus, treatment with such creams can only be effective as a preventive measure. So far, there is no scientific evidence that the creams could really help against wrinkles. With the help of a healthy lifestyle, a vitamin-rich diet, no nicotine and alcohol, hardly any sunbathing and sufficient sleep, aging can also be delayed somewhat.

More effective is the fight against wrinkles with various injection options, like Hyaluronic acid, Botox, Collagen, Polylactic acid or also own fat. By injecting the wrinkles, a clearly visible rejuvenation of the skin can be achieved, which is durable in the long term. The face appears fresher, more youthful and, above all, friendlier. Moreover, the treatment with fillers is quick, does not hurt and can be performed on an outpatient basis.

Removing the traces of time with Botox

Botox is a very good way to fight wrinkles. The product already helps after a single application. Dr. Martha Bernard will be happy to tell you personally in her practice in Munich what options are available and what effect can be produced. She has many years of experience as a plastic and aesthetic surgeon and is available to advise her patients in a detailed and confidential consultation. Botulinum toxinBotox for short, is a neurotoxin and was originally discovered as a bacterial protein. Botox is successfully used as a drug against wrinkles.

Botox is injected under the skin – selectively where the wrinkles are. It is a proven reliable means of fighting expression lines, laugh lines and frown lines. The procedure is performed without anesthesia, but can be done with local anesthesia if needed. Using a very fine needle, Botox is injected directly into the muscle and its surrounding area responsible for the wrinkle. The muscles and the transmission of excitation from the nerves to the muscles are weakened, but facial expressions are not reduced. The Wrinkles thereby smooth out on their own. How much Botox is used varies from individual to individual and is determined optimally according to need.

In Dr. Bernard’s practice, treatment can be repeated as needed after three to six months. Incidentally, Botox treatment is considered one of the safest methods of treating wrinkles.

How does hyaluronic acid work in the skin and in creams?

Hyaluronic acid serves outside the skin cells to bind water. This makes the skin firmer and smoother. Over time, the natural hyaluronic acid in the skin degrades and the skin loses elasticity and moisture. The result is wrinkles. There are now numerous moisturizers that can Hyaluronic acid have hyaluronic acid as an active ingredient and are supposed to smooth wrinkles. This may also work with some creams, but not for a long time. A cream only manages to bind water temporarily. The skin looks fresher at first, but the effect is only superficial. More effective is the injection of hyaluronic acid into the skin layers to fight wrinkles in the long term.

Hyaluronic acid is a natural substance in the body, but which is broken down over time. 50 percent of the substance found in the body is found in the skin. That is why it is readily used as synthetically produced hyaluronic acid in the fight against wrinkles. Dr. Bernard has many years of experience in the treatment with hyaluronic acid. She advises her patients competently and individually in her practice in Munich.

Effect of hyaluronic acid as an injection

When hyaluronic acid is injected into the skin, it acts exactly where it should. Namely in the deeper layers of the skin. The substance is used for nose wrinkles, upper lip and cheek wrinkles, for filling in the lower eyelid area and for other facial wrinkles. The hyaluronic acid for injection is synthetically produced. This prolongs its durability and duration of action. Now there is a wide range of hyaluronic and collagen preparations. They mostly differ in their duration of action, depth of injection, price or concentration.

In the practice of Dr. Bernard we work with Radiesse© Fillers. This substance with hyaluronic acid has already been used successfully for many years to combat deep wrinkles and contour the face.

Radiesse© Filler – safe and completely degradable.

The substance is considered to be particularly reliable and is completely broken down again by the body. The duration of effect is up to 18 months. Since the Radiesse© filler is mixed with a local anesthetic, the treatment is virtually painless.

Which filler is appropriate and which dosage is necessary can be discussed in a personal consultation with Dr. Bernard in her Munich practice. As a general rule, long-term improvements occur if you repeat the treatment several times.
